In reply to Deb. I've always done just 1 minute. And since you mentioned 5 minutes I googled it and my friends at Google (lol) also say 1 minute if you are trying to kill microorganisms. Longer certainly would not hurt though!

Great article! We follow the recipe you gave. We only have one feeder going at a time, but we have two feeders - one to clean, one to use. We love watching the hummingbirds. We also have some flowers that they enjoy.
